When I picked up my first X-Men comic back in the 80s, I quickly realized one thing: Rogue is bloody awesome. It is truth. It is law.
Every Wednesday I will share with you a moment, a panel, a scene, that proves it.
Because: Rogue. FUCK YEAH.
It’s been several months since Xavier forced the X-Men to accept Rogue on the team. Just because she tried to kill them a few times and ambushed and permanently brainwiped their friend Carol, they’re all pissy and unaccepting and shit. But fuck them because Rogue keeps trying anyway.
Then Colossus gets attacked and is totally fucked unless someone can get him unstuck so he can be healed. Gee, wonder who can do that?
But what’s going on with Colossus? Claremont thought you might ask that, 27 years after the book was published, so he’s straight up telling you in this bitch.
Despite constantly trying to be accepted and rejected, hated by her own team when she’s at her most unstable and vulnerable, Rogue still puts herself through this for Peter because IT’S THE RIGHT FUCKING THING TO DO.
And finally, she’s earned the thing she needs most: a family.
Rogue. Absorbing your pain because she can take that shit. FUCK YEAH.
From Uncanny X-Men #179 by Chris Claremont and John Romita, Jr.
