When I picked up my first X-Men comic back in the 80s, I quickly realized one thing: Rogue is bloody awesome. It is truth. It is law.
Every Wednesday I will share with you a moment, a panel, a scene, that proves it.
Because: Rogue. FUCK YEAH.
Rogue and the at-the-time-newb X-Men Psylocke, Dazzler and Longshot are in Scotland. So is Juggernaut, and you know what that means. In the course of the fight they take out a huge chunk of railway line, but a packed commuter train is barreling down the track. Well, fuck.
While the others keep Jugs busy …
The fight continues, but Rogue’s having some trouble.
The train’s getting closer …
And CLOSER …
Juggernaut’s defeated, Betsy and Ali have a brief congratulatory moment, then remember something big, important, and about to land on their heads.
Rogue. Single-handedly stopping a speeding train with inches to spare yet still has the energy for a joke. FUCK YEAH.
From Uncanny X-Men #218 by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri.
