Rock Band DLC

Nothing unexpected or surprising this week, as all of these had been announced one way or another before now. It’s also not a week to get me too excited, but I think my Microsoft wallet could do with a break so no complaining here.

Also note that the release date for this DLC is Thursday this week rather than the usual Tuesday due to an HMX server migration.

* Pantera – “5 Minutes Alone+
* Pantera – “I’m Broken
* Pantera – “Mouth for War
* Pantera – “Walk+
* Peter Frampton – “Do You Feel Like We Do (Live)

+ = pro-guitar/bass chart available

Pantera‘s previous Rock Band showing was a pretty lackluster affair, with no one really being happy with The Great Southern Trendkill album release. Being all early 90s Dimebag Darryl songs though, this pack should go over much better.

Not with me though. Pantera, not so much my thing. If you like growly groove metal then you doubtless already know what you’re picking up. If you don’t like the genre however, this straight isn’t for you. The music is okay enough, but the screaming just ruins it for me. I can’t forsee any time when I’d actually enjoy playing these. Of the four, I probably liked “Walk” best, but that’s the same as saying I like being mauled by a tiger best of all animals to be mauled by.

Otherwise this week you have Peter Frampton with “Do You Feel Like We Do”. As noted it’s the live version; arguably the live version, being the epic from the seminal Frampton Comes Alive. At 13-14 minutes it may be the longest song now in the game, possibly only beaten by The Who Super Bowl mash-up. Not only that, but it has harmony and key support. Make no mistake, you will be hard pressed to ever find better value for your money than this track right here. Which makes it all the more disappointing that I HATE THIS SONG. I would dearly love to add it to my collection, but it’s just one of those songs that makes my teeth grind. I can’t change the station fast enough when it comes on. Such a pity. But if you do NOT feel like I do, then snag this.
