The DLC for next week isn’t so much for me, being a four pack from metal group Slipknot. Should be a nice seller for Harmonix though and as I’m still several weeks behind on picking stuff up, I appreciate the break.
+ = pro-guitar/bass chart available
I’m pretty sure I had a fever dream once that looked exactly like that video for “Wait and Bleed”.
But okay, yeah, I’m not even going to offer up individual thoughts on these songs because I just don’t have them. For the most part it’s a wall of angry. Any nuance is lost in the noise. When I can zero in on an instrument I’m just not impressed by what I hear – guitar is largely a single riff repeated throughout, occasionally broken by a speed solo that adds little to the feel of the song (probably because the only emotion acknowledged is “I AM SO PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW”). Drums are exactly as you’d expect for an aggressive nu metal group.
The exception is “Snuff”, which is a ballad of the sort that must’ve incensed the band’s “old school” fans as it sounds nothing at all like the other songs in this pack. Still despite the different sound, it’s purely average in the alt-rock style. There’s not much here that doesn’t already exist in the game, and I have to imagine that if you’re coming in for Slipknot, this isn’t what you’re looking for.
For those that love Slipknot or this style of music, this is probably a fantastic pack. If you don’t like screamer nu metal however, then there’s not a lot here for you this time around. Better luck next week.
