PAX 2011, Day 3

Sleep was again interrupted but with the final day of PAX ahead we couldn’t let a tiny little thing like exhaustion get in the way. There were games to demo that I hadn’t yet demoed and many photos to photo that I hadn’t yet photoed. Previously on PAX’11:

PAX 2011: Day 1, Part 3

The sun is setting on the first day of PAX [Part 1] [Part 2], but the night is still ahead. There will be music, and haunted bubble toilets. The adventure – much like this write-up – never ends.       When we last left our intrepid duo, the Main Hall was closing. The geek exodus had begun. On the left you can see the booth for Prototype 2. The first game had this infamous […]

PAX 2011: Day 1, Part 2

A tasty lunch of peanut butter has been consumed. Caffeine has been ingested. The remainder of Day 1 lies ahead. [Part 1 is here.] Our slow but relentless conquering of PAX 2011 continues.       Lunch helped shake off whatever remained of the previous night and we skipped merrily back to the Convention Center (note: may contain less merry skipping than advertised). This time we started near the top and soon found ourselves in […]

PAX 2011: Day 1, Part 1

Greetings and welcome to PAX Day 1. To enjoy our drunken pre-PAX adventures, you can read about Day 0 here.         Morning came, as mornings so often do, far too early. Still there was no time to wallow in the lingering embrace of hangover, not with so many lines to stand in! We made it to the Queue Room around 9am. Giant black beach balls were already being punted around the room. […]

PAX 2011, Day 0

PAX 2011 may be many weeks gone but heaven forbid I let it pass without excessive commentary. I approached the convention with no small trepidation this year, and while it wasn’t quite the mind-blowing time I’ve had previous, it was still crazy fun and I’m glad I didn’t let the sour taste keep me away.     PAX, the Penny Arcade Expo – gaming convention without compare. For four days my husband Mike and I […]

There's not a single tree, why is it the Emerald City again?

I semi-spontaneously ran up to Seattle for the day for Emerald City Comicon. I say “semi-spontaneously” because we (meaning Mike, Scott and myself) only cemented plans yesterday. Which is huge for me, since normally I twig without at least a week’s notice and mental preparation. Adding my mood into that, and despite the relative achievement levels as compared to most of the world, I’m pretty proud of myself. While there, Mike got a signed and […]

PAX 2010: Day 2, Part 2

If you’re just tuning in, here’s what you missed so far: the pre-con Day 0, PAX begins in Day 1, and the first of our two-part look at Day 2. And now, Day 2 Continues.   After lunch we had a decision to make. We were incredibly interested in the live D&D session with Penny Arcade’s Gabe and Tycho, PvP’s Scott Kurtz, and Wil Wheaton. Checking Twitter however, I saw that we were not alone […]

PAX 2010: Day 1

To read about our pre-PAX vacation beginnings, check out my Day 0 write-up.       The first day of PAX began later than expected, thanks to my seeming inability to know the difference between “AM” and “PM” on my phone’s alarm. Luckily my internal clock is a little more aware of its surroundings and jolted me wide awake at 6.30, only a half-hour later than planned. I’d also correctly gauged my level of disorganization […]

PAX 2010: Day 0

It’s that time of year. The time when summer dies and gamers live, flocking to Seattle in the tens of tens of thousands. This was our second PAX; the first was so awesome that we knew before it had even finished that we’d want to do it all over again. There’s been a lot said about the PAX experience. “Home” is how it’s mostly described, and it’s definitely a feeling that can’t be overstated. I’m […]

Yay for Roman-themed puns. Please enjoy it, as it’s probably the most interesting part of this post. Mike and I are headed for PAX tomorrow. Four days and three nights in glorious Seattle – much like glorious Portland only I don’t live there. We will be fully immersed in games and geekery such as the world has never seen. Consequently, no more posts to come this week. I know, I know, with my break-neck dedicated […]
