PAX 2011, Day 3

Sleep was again interrupted but with the final day of PAX ahead we couldn’t let a tiny little thing like exhaustion get in the way. There were games to demo that I hadn’t yet demoed and many photos to photo that I hadn’t yet photoed. Previously on PAX’11:

PAX 2011: Day 1, Part 3

The sun is setting on the first day of PAX [Part 1] [Part 2], but the night is still ahead. There will be music, and haunted bubble toilets. The adventure – much like this write-up – never ends.       When we last left our intrepid duo, the Main Hall was closing. The geek exodus had begun. On the left you can see the booth for Prototype 2. The first game had this infamous […]

PAX 2011: Day 1, Part 2

A tasty lunch of peanut butter has been consumed. Caffeine has been ingested. The remainder of Day 1 lies ahead. [Part 1 is here.] Our slow but relentless conquering of PAX 2011 continues.       Lunch helped shake off whatever remained of the previous night and we skipped merrily back to the Convention Center (note: may contain less merry skipping than advertised). This time we started near the top and soon found ourselves in […]

PAX 2011: Day 1, Part 1

Greetings and welcome to PAX Day 1. To enjoy our drunken pre-PAX adventures, you can read about Day 0 here.         Morning came, as mornings so often do, far too early. Still there was no time to wallow in the lingering embrace of hangover, not with so many lines to stand in! We made it to the Queue Room around 9am. Giant black beach balls were already being punted around the room. […]

PAX 2011, Day 0

PAX 2011 may be many weeks gone but heaven forbid I let it pass without excessive commentary. I approached the convention with no small trepidation this year, and while it wasn’t quite the mind-blowing time I’ve had previous, it was still crazy fun and I’m glad I didn’t let the sour taste keep me away.     PAX, the Penny Arcade Expo – gaming convention without compare. For four days my husband Mike and I […]

Waterloo Sunset

Day One of Mum’s visit is done. It was spent hanging and chatting and Rock Banding. She made a new drummer. His name is Eli Starfield and that’s awesome. More of the same anticipated for tomorrow. Love it.

A Tale of Two Mes

Everyone’s talking about Portal 2. That coupled with the “For science” commercials makes me want to play it. Luckily(?) my mother’s imminent arrival makes starting any new game right now utterly pointless. It also however means I need to clean the house, and I am deeply rebelling against this. I did good today, actually cutting the lawn and washing the car, but dusting, scrubbing, zzzz. Plus I’m in a good working place at the moment […]

Superb Owl.

My week proceeds strangely. I got up far earlier than I would’ve liked to get the chili on, then ran around all day cleaning and shopping and baking and posting. (one of these things is not like the other) My timing stank however and I was still making cookies come kick off, and consequently missed like an entire hour of Super Bowl commercials. At least I have TiVo, which we’ll run through the DVD burner […]

PAX 2010, Day 3

We’ve had quite an adventure so far. You don’t want to just jump in at exciting finale; go read what came before: Day 0, Day 1, Day 2, Part 1, Day 2, Part 2. And now, the conclusion of PAX 2010.   Morning came to me at 8.30. We had nowhere particular to be. Our major goal for Sunday was a modest one: I had been around Rock Band 3 all weekend and had yet […]
